Mario Alvarez Gomez, also liked to be known as Rio, 57, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, was called to heaven on July 21, 2023 peacefully at home. He was born Aug. 3, 1965 in Prescott, Arizona to Mariano and Amelia Gomez. Mario was born and raised in Prescott, where he first attended Washington Elementary School, Prescott Middle School, Prescott High School and Yavapai College. After Yavapai College he then moved on to Western New Mexico University in Silver City New Mexico to pursue his passion for baseball.
